Widely distributed in the Indian Pacific region, from the Red Sea and the West Indian Ocean to Japan and Australia, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines and Vietnam. It inhabits the sediment bottom of the water below 70 meters.
Introduction:
Eyes have double corneas. The frontal angle plate is triangular and the front end is longer. The head breastplate has a central ridge with its rear edge recessed inward. The knuckle has eight teeth; the outer edge of the palm has a slender, straight spine. The fifth thoracic rim has a round rim. The sub-central ridges and middle ridges of the sixth to eighth thoracic spines are not thorny. The first to fifth abdomen features a dwarf sub-central ridge. The outer extremities of the tail extremities have 8 - 10 movable thorns.
Body color:
The back of the body is pale brown and blue. The ridges and the posterior edge of the somite are dark brown. The sub-center ridge of the sixth abdominal segment is dark green. There is a pair of dark spots on both sides of the central ridge of the tail shank; the spines of the tail pedestal are green. The limbs have dark brown inner limbs and yellowish brown outer limbs.
