Issues for Attention in Buying Grape Grafted Seedlings

Grapes are divided into three populations: Eurasian, East Asian, and North American. In production, it is usually divided into cultivars (Kyoho, Fujisawa, Red Earth, Xiahe, etc.) and wild species (mountain grapes, riparian grapes, velvet grapes, Beida, SO4, etc.). European and American hybrids belong to the same Eurasian species. Viticulture species. Kyoho belongs to the European and American hybrids, with Kyoho as the rootstock, on which grafted summer hybrids such as summer and black and black beets, and Euro-Asian hybrids such as Red Earth and Kreisson. This so-called grafted seedling belongs to the category of co-stockings. There are shortcomings in the cultivars of co-stocked seedlings, that is, they have a short life span, poor resistance, no cold tolerance, and weak drought resistance. In production, grafting with co-stocks is a retrogression of the history of fruit trees, and should be given great attention by fruit growers. Suitable rootstocks for grapes should be Beida, SO4, riparian, and Shanhe systems. The fruit growers should choose according to local conditions. They must not think that “as long as grafted seedlings are acceptable”, thus neglecting some of the grafted seedlings are fact. Because grafted seedlings use rootstocks for their strong resistance, resistance to disease, resistance to insects, cold resistance, resistance to fleas, resistance to salt and alkali, and resistance to drought, cultivars do not have these advantages, and their use as root grafts has no meaning.
