The choice of raw materials depends first on the growth of the plants, the strong growth potential, and the well-developed shoots. The luxuriant honeysuckle has strong breeding ability and is easy to be shaped. It can be trimmed into balls and can be carefully carved into various forms. If possible, it is best to observe the root system. The seedlings with well-developed root systems are highly adaptable and stress-resistant.
Transplanting and planting honeysuckle have low requirement for soil. Under the conditions of Beijing's climate and reasonable transplantation, the survival rate can reach more than 98%. Honeysuckle transplants are suitable from late March to early April. In the spring, naked roots can be transplanted. The main root system should be maintained as much as possible, and the root canopy should be 8 times the ground diameter. Bare root seedlings should not be exposed to air for too long. It is best to plant them within 24 hours. After planting, the root soil should be compacted, and it is not advisable to leave joints and to pour the water first. A week or so, the roots of the soil leveled, depending on the sensation of pouring the second pass of water. Later, if it is not a drought, it can be waterless. In the rainy season, the soil ball should be taken care of. The size of the soil ball should be 6 to 8 times of the ground diameter. If the seedling is strong, it may be slightly smaller than the standard.
Reasonable pruning and cultivation of tree-shaped honeysuckle balls is the key to proper pruning. Pruning should be carried out during the growing season, preferably in late July, early August, early September, and should not be pruned before the winter in Beijing. Trimming branches is repeated several times a year, and the frequency of trimming depends on the actual growth conditions. Weed branches, dense branches, leggy branches and diseased plants with poor growth and development were cut off. Pruning should not be too heavy to keep the ball expanding. We must resolutely eradicate buds in the cadres and roots, maintain the dry form, and gradually grow thick.
