Food prices rose 0.2%

Business forecasts show that last week (May 16-22) food prices rose 0.2%.

According to the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China on May 25, business forecast: Last week (May 16-22), food prices rose 0.2%. The retail price of small package rice rose by 0.2% last week. Prices in Lanzhou, Chongqing, and Nanchang increased by 1.3%, 1.2%, and 1.0%, respectively; prices in Guangzhou, Nanjing, and Xiamen dropped by 0.8%, 0.6%, and 0.4%, respectively; prices in Hefei, Harbin, Guiyang, and Xining were unchanged from the previous week. It is expected that the domestic retail price of rice will rise slightly in the later period.

The retail price of small package flour rose by 0.2% last week. Prices in Chongqing, Nanchang and Urumqi rose by 1.3%, 0.9% and 0.9% respectively; prices in Tianjin, Hohhot and Shenyang dropped by 0.8%, 0.7% and 0.4% respectively; prices in Ningbo, Shanghai and Jinan were unchanged from the previous week. At present, the wheat market has sufficient supply and the price of raw grains is steadily weak. It is expected that the retail price of flour will remain stable in the later period.
