Water control during fertilizer fermentation

Water control is a crucial factor during the fermentation process when using organic fertilizers with the Golden Baby Fermentation Agent. Some users have reported unsatisfactory results, often blaming the quality of the product. However, several factors influence the success of the fermentation, and moisture content plays one of the most important roles. Moisture is essential for microbial activity and the breakdown of organic materials. It helps microorganisms move through the pile and ensures nutrients are evenly distributed. Proper moisture also helps maintain good aeration, which is vital for the growth of beneficial bacteria. When dealing with materials high in crop stalks, adequate moisture allows the material to swell and soften, making it easier for microbes to break it down. On the other hand, excessive moisture can reduce air flow, leading to anaerobic conditions that hinder microbial activity. The ideal moisture level should be between 50% and 70% of the wet weight of the raw material. This means that when you squeeze the material in your hand, a small amount of moisture should remain, but no water should drip out. If the moisture level doesn't meet this range, adjustments must be made before adding the Golden Baby starter. For livestock manure with less than 40% moisture, mixing it with higher-moisture manure for 4–8 hours can help bring it within the optimal range. For long crop stalks, it’s recommended to soak them first before adding the starter. If the moisture is above 70%, dry materials like straw powder or rice husk can be added to absorb excess moisture. In cases where the moisture exceeds 85%, mechanical methods such as solid-liquid separation systems may be necessary to reduce it effectively. Proper moisture management not only improves the efficiency of the fermentation process but also ensures better quality and performance of the final fertilizer product. Always check and adjust the moisture content before starting the fermentation.
