How to spinach in early autumn

Selected Varieties: As autumn begins, temperatures remain high, commonly referred to as the "autumn tiger." At this time, it's best to plant spinach using heat-resistant and fast-germinating varieties to ensure better growth in the warm conditions.

Seed Soaking and Germination: Before sowing, soak the spinach seeds in water for 12 to 24 hours. Then place them in a shaded area inside the house to germinate. During this period, make sure to turn the seeds regularly and keep them moist. After about 5 to 6 days, the seeds will be ready for planting.

Timely Sowing: Early autumn spinach is usually sown around mid-August and harvested in late September. To cope with the high temperatures, increase the seed rate to 10–15 kg per acre. When sowing, it's important to prepare the soil before watering, ensuring even distribution of seeds.

Sowing and Care: Spinach sown before the "White Dew" should be covered with straw or grass after sowing to help cool the soil and maintain moisture, which promotes uniform germination. Before the seeds emerge, water them once in the morning and once in the evening. Once the seedlings appear, remove the cover and water according to the soil moisture. During the growing phase, apply a small amount of diluted manure water as a top dressing to support healthy development.

Proper care during the early stages is crucial for strong and vigorous spinach plants. Make sure to monitor the field regularly and adjust watering and fertilization based on weather conditions. With good management, you can enjoy a bountiful harvest of fresh, tender spinach in the coming weeks.
