… keeps my sweet tooth satisfied
There’s something about apples that just never gets old — especially when they’re on the verge of going bad and you want to use them up before they turn into compost. This recipe is perfect for those moments when you’ve got a few apples left in your fridge after a big market run, and you’re tired of eating them plain, but don’t want to waste them. Plus, it’s a great way to enjoy them in a totally different form. (Was that too specific? Maybe. But I think it's relatable.) Or maybe you just want it because it’s delicious — no judgment here.
I recently made this for our Annual Day Before Easter Brunch and Egg Hunt (I still need a better name for that event, by the way), and it was a hit! My brother put it on his Belgian waffles, others enjoyed it with whipped cream, and I personally love it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a drizzle of caramel sauce. Oh, and let me tell you — that last part is gone now. But even without any extras, it’s still a crowd-pleaser. You can eat it all by itself, and that’s totally fine.
My favorite way to make it? In the slow cooker. It’s the lazy person’s dream. Just throw everything in, set it on low, and forget about it until your kitchen smells like a cozy bakery. That’s when you know it’s done — and trust me, you won’t be able to wait much longer.

Fresh Mommy’s Baked Apple Recipe:
6 apples (Granny Smith works best, but any apple will do)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
3 tablespoons cornstarch
4 tablespoons butter
Peel the apples and slice them. Place all the ingredients except the butter into the slow cooker and mix well, making sure each slice is coated. Top with small pats of butter.
Cook on HIGH for 1.5 hours or LOW for 3.5 hours, stirring once halfway through.
Serve it with ice cream, whipped cream, or caramel sauce if you're feeling extra fancy. But even on its own, it’s a real winner.
Enjoy your homemade baked apples — they’re a simple treat that brings comfort and flavor in every bite.
