… keeps my sweet tooth satisfied

This is the perfect way to use up those leftover apples that are starting to look sad in your fridge. Maybe you bought a bunch at the market and now you're over apples, but you don’t want to waste them — especially when they only have a few days left. Or maybe you just love apples and want something new to enjoy. Either way, this recipe is a winner.

I recently made this for our new Annual Day Before Easter Brunch and Egg Hunt (I know, the name needs work) and it was a hit! My brother put it on his Belgian waffles, some people had it with whipped cream, and I absolutely love it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce. Cinnamon would be a nice addition too — though I’m not sure that’s still in the house anymore. But hey, it’s totally fine to eat it on its own too.

My favorite way to make this? In the slow cooker. It’s so easy — just throw everything in, set it, and forget it. Then, when your kitchen starts smelling like heaven, you know it’s time to enjoy. Who doesn’t love a little lazy cooking?

Ready to make it? Let's go!

Fresh Mommy's Baked Apple Recipe:

6 apples (Granny Smith works best, but any kind will do)
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
3 tablespoons cornstarch
4 tablespoons butter

Peel and slice the apples. Place all ingredients except the butter into the crockpot and stir well to coat the apple slices. Add pats of butter on top.
Cook on HIGH for 1.5 hours or LOW for 3.5 hours, stirring once halfway through.

Serve with ice cream, whipped cream, or caramel sauce if you're feeling adventurous.

Enjoy your cozy, homemade treat!
