The jujube tree typically flowers between May and June in northern regions. During this time, dry and windy conditions are common, which can negatively affect pollination and fruit set. Spraying water during the flowering period can help improve the microclimate around the trees, extend the blooming period, and increase the rate of fruit setting.
Spraying should be done using a high-pressure sprayer early in the morning before 8:00 AM or late in the afternoon after 4:00 PM, on days with little to no wind. For mature trees, apply about 5–6 kilograms of water per plant; for medium-sized trees, 3.5–4.5 kilograms; and for young trees, 2.5–3.5 kilograms. It's recommended to spray once every 1–2 days, for a total of 3–4 times throughout the flowering season.
To support tree health, you can add approximately 2% urea solution to the water or mix in 1.25–1.5 kg of well-decomposed human manure per 50 liters of water. To reduce fruit drop, consider adding 50 ppm of a caustic acid solution or 10 ppm of "920" (gibberellic acid) to the spray. If pests are present, a small amount of dimethoate insecticide can be added during the final spraying session.
Jujube trees require temperatures above 25°C for proper pollination, so avoid spraying when the temperature is below 20°C. Between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM is the peak pollination period, and watering during this time may interfere with the process. Always check weather conditions before spraying to ensure optimal results and tree health.
