(The stunning Tabitha Blue in Atlanta)
Over the weekend, Tabitha and I took a little road trip, and let me tell you, it was such a refreshing experience. Anytime there's a chance to step away from routine and explore something new, I’m all in—no hesitation. Life can get monotonous, especially when you're working in a creative industry. But even if you’re not a professional artist or photographer, it's important to remember that everyone needs moments of inspiration to keep their spark alive. Creativity is a muscle that needs to be flexed regularly to stay strong.
While we were at Jeremy Cowart’s Lifefinder conference, we got to hear from someone who has truly mastered his craft. Jeremy is a renowned commercial and band photographer with an impressive portfolio. His success alone makes him a great mentor, but what really sets him apart is his commitment to using his talent for good. He founded Help Portrait, an initiative focused on capturing meaningful memories and spreading kindness. During his talk, Jeremy emphasized the importance of giving back, encouraging us to use our unique skills to make a difference. His message was simple yet profound: "It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." Those words resonated deeply with me, and I scribbled them down immediately. Fear of failure is real, but it’s often the fear itself that holds us back from reaching our full potential.
Whether you're juggling a demanding job or balancing family life, there’s always room for small changes that can bring big shifts in perspective. Sometimes it’s as simple as switching up your morning commute, picking up a novel, or attending a local concert. Inspiration can strike anywhere, and once you find it, act on it! Embrace your quirks and share them with the world. After all, "Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless," as Jamie Paolinetti wisely said.
We’ve all been there—stuck in a rut where motivation feels like a distant memory. When burnout strikes, it’s crucial to take action. Don’t wait for external validation; instead, focus on what lights you up inside. As Howard Thurman put it, "Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
I hope this post encourages you to seek out those moments of inspiration and cherish them. When you find what moves you, dive headfirst into living it fully. Here’s wishing you an incredible Tuesday filled with discovery and joy!
