This past weekend, Tabitha and I embarked on a spontaneous road trip that turned out to be incredibly inspiring. Anytime such an opportunity arises, I don’t hesitate to jump in headfirst—because I know how vital it is to nurture our passions and break free from the monotony that can creep into our routines. Whether you’re in a creative field or not, this need to recharge and refocus is universal.

While attending Jeremy Cowart’s Lifefinder conference, we were fortunate enough to learn from someone who truly embodies success in our industry. Jeremy Cowart is widely recognized for his work as a commercial and band photographer, and his career speaks volumes about his talent. However, beyond his professional achievements, what struck me most was his genuine passion for mentoring photographers and encouraging them to embrace creativity and originality. Jeremy also founded Help Portrait, an initiative aimed at using photography to give back to communities and create lasting memories. His message resonated deeply: we have the power to use our skills to uplift others and make the world a better place. Hearing this reinforced the importance of staying true to our unique perspectives and avoiding the trap of complacency.

One of the quotes Jeremy shared really stuck with me: “It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation.” This struck a chord because it challenges the common excuse we often hide behind—“everything’s already been done.” In reality, an original idea doesn’t have to revolutionize the world; it just has to be authentic to who you are. Failure might seem daunting, but it’s often the stepping stone to growth.

We all lead different lives, with varying responsibilities and schedules. But no matter what your daily routine looks like, there’s always room to infuse it with inspiration. Maybe it’s taking a new route to work, picking up a hobby you’ve always wanted to try, or simply setting aside time to dream big. The possibilities are endless. Once you discover what lights you up, dive in and let your imagination guide you. As Jamie Paolinetti once said, “Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.”

Burnout is inevitable at times, and when it strikes, it feels like the vibrancy fades from everything. When this happens, it’s crucial to take action. Howard Thurman put it beautifully: “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

I hope this post encourages you to seek out what brings you joy and fulfillment. Once you find it, immerse yourself in it and let it fuel your actions. Remember, life is too short to stay stagnant.

Wishing you a fantastic Tuesday ahead!
